FAQ

Direct answersWhat this is, and what it is not

We research federal post-conviction records. We do not give legal advice, file anything, represent the defendant, or promise a release date. Research staff check the work before it is delivered.

The usual first question

How do we start?

Order the $49 Case Snapshot. Within 3 business days, we identify and size the docket, flag baseline FSA and SCA indicators, and give you the fixed Assessment price.

Common questions

Answers about the service and what comes next

These answers are general. Questions about one defendant require the case record, so every new customer begins with a Snapshot.

Are you lawyers?

No. We are a service of Open Efforts Corporation, a software company. Our reports are research, not legal advice, representation, privileged communication, or attorney work product.

Will this cause problems for my loved one?

We do not file anything or contact the court. We keep case material in secured storage and limit access to the authorized defendant or account and the people working on that case. You decide whether and how to use the research.

Why use AI for this work?

One dedicated agent can work through a large record without dropping the thread between documents. It matches the record to current sources, while research staff check citations, calculations, and completeness. AI is the mechanism. The product is case-specific research.

Does the Snapshot calculate FSA credits or decide SCA placement?

No. The Snapshot gives baseline FSA and SCA indicators and tells you what more is needed. Credit calculations, program guidance, document review, and the five SCA factors belong in the full Assessment.

What do I actually get?

A printed Assessment mailed to the defendant. It includes an organized record, current decisions and pending developments, FSA calculations and program information, the five SCA factors, release-related research, citations, requirements, timing, research priorities, and a roadmap focused on the earliest possible release. It also includes one month each of CaseWatch and ActiveAgent. Neither renews automatically.

Can we ask questions after the report?

CaseWatch does not include questions and answers. ActiveAgent adds case-specific Q&A for the defendant through CorrLinks. The response target is less than one business day, subject to BOP platform limits. BOP messaging is monitored. Answers remain research, not legal advice.

Is checkout live?

Yes. Order a $49 Case Snapshot at checkout. Assessment, CaseWatch, and ActiveAgent are billed after the Snapshot quote, not on that first payment.
